Sliding fire doors: protection on a large scale

Sliding fire doors are the ideal solution for protecting large openings, such as industrial access points, multi-storey car parks, warehouses and shopping centres, where a high level of compartmentalisation is required, combined with highly reliable closing systems. In this field, Sisti Engineering – the first company in Italy to have fire doors of its own design tested by the Ministry of the Interior – offers a range of high-quality solutions, developed to ensure superior performance.

When sliding fire doors are required

Sliding fire doors are used when a fire escape route cannot be accommodated by hinged doors, either due to space constraints or specific operational requirements. The main areas of application include:

Industrial and logistics warehouses

Zoning of large areas and separation of areas with different risk levels

Public and private car parks

Including those in shopping centres: management of large areas requiring partitioning, often exceeding 1,000 m²

Pedestrian gate

Option to fit a pedestrian access door with or without a panic bar

Production establishments

Protection of production lines and warehouses in environments with a high concentration of flammable materials

In these applications, the size and weight of the door leaves make the mechanical design a crucial factor. The smoothness, reliability and repeatability of the closing movement in the event of an emergency must be guaranteed over time, without compromise. For this reason, every door undergoes particularly rigorous testing procedures, which exceed the standards required for regulatory approval alone.

Features and control systems

Every Sisti Engineering sliding fire door can be fitted with a complete control and automation system, designed to integrate effectively with the building’s fire protection system. The configuration may include:

  • 24V DC solenoids (1.5W) with backing plate and manual release button;
  • EN 54-2 / EN 54-4-certified single-zone control unit, capable of managing up to 4 solenoids and 5 smoke or heat detectors, with integrated 12V backup battery;
  • EN 54-5 / EN 54-7-certified smoke and heat detectors;
  • EN 54-3-certified electronic siren and EN 54-11-compliant alarm activation button;
  • Hydraulic end-of-travel damper with magnetic head and closing speed regulator;
  • Customised motors, fitted with safety devices compliant with current regulations;
  • Customisable surface finishes, available in the RAL colour range or with special-effect coatings.

An integrated system that combines safety, control and adaptability to specific design requirements.

Certified doors

Quality and certification over time

Every Sisti Engineering sliding fire door is the result of a design approach focused on quality and reliability, which is reflected in the mechanical design, functional performance, aesthetic finish and selection of fittings. The entire production process is supported by a management system certified to ISO 9001 since 2004 (certificate no. SQ041804), ensuring rigorous and traceable control at every stage, from design to delivery.

Series BSRS EI 120 CE - CE7

CE-marked sliding fire door – Class EI1 60 – EI2 60
In accordance with standards EN 16034:2014 – EN 13241:2016 + A2:2016.

  • Door leaf comprising vertical modules, consisting of two externally galvanised and pre-painted steel sheets with solid composite mineral fibre insulation.
  • External perimeter reinforcement frame on all four sides of the door leaf, made from 2.5 mm thick galvanised steel ‘C’ profiles.
  • Lower guide integrated with the door leaf, made from a 2.5 mm thick galvanised steel ‘C’ profile, which engages with two sealed ball bearings positioned on the floor beyond the opening.

Recessed handles on both sides of the door leaf.

Total thickness of the door leaf: 100 mm.

Perimeter labyrinth seals between the door leaf and the wall, made from 2.5 mm thick galvanised steel, fixed to the door leaf with M8 screws and to the wall using fire-rated wall plugs.

Thermo-expanding gasket, fitted to the labyrinth seals, to ensure a seal at high temperatures.

Upper support and sliding guide in a closed C-shape, made from high-strength galvanised steel 4.5 mm thick, complete with galvanised brackets and plates for anchoring to the wall, fitted with a closing limit switch and a cover strip in pre-painted galvanised steel.

Support and sliding carriages for the door leaf, made from drawn galvanised steel. Each carriage is fitted with four wheels with sealed ball bearings.

Counterweight with drive cable enclosed in a pre-painted galvanised steel housing.

Operates with an opening retention system comprising an electromagnet.
Safety devices comprising a closing speed regulator and an end-of-travel shock absorber.
